This is an original U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Scabbard with a NJ Rosette. The leather belt loop is stamped Rock Island Armory. The U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Scabbard was the standard-issue military scabbard used to hold the triangular socket bayonet for the Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle during the Indian Wars period.
