From the sellerWWI 1918 U.S. Army Signal Corps Aeroplane Radio Antenna Spool/Reel in Excellent Condition. Nickel Plated Steel Works. Spool is Stamped Steel with a Black painted finish. Working marked as follows. Signal Corps U.S. Army Aeroplane Radio Antenna Reel Type DR-2 Order No. 42291 Date April 4-1918 Made By L.S. Branch Supply Co. Newark N.J. These were mounted inside the aeroplane cockpit wall. A Long antenna wire was then dropped through a hole in the floor and trailed behind the plane as it went along. When not in use, it was cranked up. Sorry, no overseas sales
