This is a vintage 1950s/1960s "Cubby the Reading Bear" mechanical toy produced by the Japanese manufacturer Alps. The toy features a plush bear character wearing green overalls and red tin litho shoes, sitting on a metal base. When wound up, the bear flips the pages of the small metal book it is holding, often using a magnetic mechanism in its hand. Excellent Working Condition: $70 – $100 These bears are fully functional, where winding him up causes his head to nod, his hand to turn the pages, and his arms to flip the pages back once finished.
