This is a vintage piece given to me over 50 yrs ago as a child. I believe it had a ribbon for hanging like an ornament but could also be a necklace pendant. It is larger and hollow. I believe it is sterling as it was tarnished but have no way to test and it is not marked . A very cool and unusual piece. It does not stick to a magnet. It is hollow but has some weight as shown
