The large bold text reads: 蛇皮線 (Jamisen). "The shamisen/sanshin entered the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa) from China around the 14th century, and eventually spread to the mainland. The neck of this genuine snake-skin sanshin is made of Ryukyu ebony (kokutan) sourced from the Yaeyama Islands, while the body uses raw 'Inumaki' (budda pine) wood.
