Vintage Native American Snowshoes from Montana

For auction is a vintage pair of snowshoes of Native American handmade origin. A number of North American tribes made snowshoes of similar shape but based on purchase location in Montana, I believe the snowshoes are of Ojibwe/Chippewa origin. The closely spaced webbing as compared to commercial snowshoes and the gradual thinning of the one-piece wood frame from one side to the opposite side is a good indication of being handmade. Also the two pieces of the tail are fastened with two bent nails. Each snowshoe is about 42" in length with widest measurement of about 13 1'2". The pair weighs about 3 lbs. My guess is that the snowshoes are about 1920s in age. This is a great pair of display snowshoes or I perhaps you could use them if you could find another strap.
