The 333-foot tower is fashioned after the ancient Lighthouse of Ostia in Rome and sits atop Shooter's Hill. Construction began in 1922 and the Memorial was dedicated in 1932, This contemporaneous model is metal with age-darkened copper finish and faded green felt base cover; made in U.S.A.
