From the sellerFrom an estate collection, this item is a brass fire hose divider that belonged to the CHICAGO FIRE DEPT'S Engine 61, a now decommissioned pumper located in the impovershed near-southside of the city that was for decades one of the top 5 busiest Engines in the city. This all-brass piece was manufactured in the 1930's at the dept's repair & maintenance facility. It was used to divide a 2-1/2" fire hose into 2 separate 1-1/2" fire hose lines for more coverage (SEE PICS).
