That this is a novelty potholder used for kitchen decoration. It belonged to my great, great grandmother and since she died in 1947, I know it's old. In looking at it, you would think it was a dress for a doll because there is a front and back (see pictures) but no, it's sewn together at the top and has a loop at the top.
