Description
From the sellerThis is a very early mechanic's ratchet, probably 1880's, could not see a maker mark, has a wood handle about 10" long, drive opening about 5/8" square, but a tight fit, probably a little less than 5/8", in excellent condition considering it is well over 100 years old. While there is a chip to one of the ratchet teeth it still works well even at that spot. When turning the ratchet wheel there is no clicking sound but the pawl is obviously working. Wood handle with brass ferrule, and the wood is excellent, no sign of cracks. One of the oldest working ratchets anyone is likely to find.
