While many modern world's fairs have been larger than the WCE, they cannot compare in historical importance. Most collectors look at teh Centennial as the first "real" world's fair in the US, also. BUT IT WAS THE FIRST WORLD'S FAIR held in the US; the Centennial was the second world's fair in the country--23 years after the Crystal Palace.
