Description
From the sellerSolidarity Summit Sunday for Soviet Jews Pin (LICSJ) May 29, 1988. Long Island Committee for Soviet Jewry had planned for demonstrations at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza across the street from United Nations headquarters in NYC in the days leading up to the May 29 1988 Moscow Summit between Reagan and Gorbachev. The aim was to further the “Let My People Go” campaign to allow Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel. This was in follow up to the hugely successful ‘Solidarity Sunday’ March in Washington on December 6 1987. For whatever reason the demonstrations ended up being cancelled, leaving only a few of the marketing and promotional materials, such as this pin, behind.
