Description
From the sellerWood works clock in working order. Has tin can weights and Terry Patent Calendar mech. Made c 1820. Many early clock makers made the movement but purchased the case and dial from other makers. This is the case with this clock. All parts are period and correct for this maker. This is a 30 hr clock with seconds hand and Terry Patent Calendar. The Heart Pine case has been nicely refinished. Hands are replacements. Clock was made in Plymouth Connecticut. In 1809 Silas Hoadley formed a partnership with Eli Terry and Seth Thomas. The partners gradually withdrew to form their own firms,Terry in 1810, and Thomas in 1814 leaving Hoadley as the sole owner. He continued to make clocks until 1849. He died in 1870.
