From the seller
This is a basically old unused lifeboat compass. Most lifeboat compasses have sheet brass cases, but this has a cast aluminum case, painted green. It has a small oil lamp on its side. There is a makers certification tag which detached from wire wrapped around the handle. It is about 6 1/2" diam., 11" tall overall X 10 1/2" wide overall. It is a unique piece, and was acquired about 1990.
