It features a distinctive hot stamp design combining an anchor with the text "S S REX" on a crowned card-room mold. The S.S. Rex was famously shut down in 1939 by California Attorney General Earl Warren after a dramatic "Battle of Santa Monica" standoff. A short-lived land-based venue of the same name also utilized these chips briefly around 1945–1946. This historical notoriety keeps them popular among vintage casino enthusiasts.
