Description
From the sellerAt the time it was competed in 1909, it was the “Largest Office Building in the World” as proclaimed on the side of the model. Very detailed (enlarge the photographs to see the care taken in sculpting this model). It has retained its glass reservoir (with a small chip on the rim) that is covered by a pivoting plate. The Met Life Tower was designed by Napoleon LeBrun & Sons and erected between 1905 and 1909. Inspired by St Mark's Campanile, the tower features four clock faces, four bells, and lighted beacons at its top, and was the tallest building in the world until the Woolworth Building was completed in 1913. It is pictured in Monumental Miniatures Plate 150. Dimensions, approx.: 5" H x 3-7/8" W x 2-7/8" D Ships USPS Ground Advantage
