RARE Antique 18thC French Faience Hand Painted Scenic Sailboat Pill Snuff Box NR

……When we first saw this small box we thought it was an 18th-century antique Battersea Enameled Snuff Box, but upon closer inspect it is not enamel over copper its actually French Faience pottery. On the top is a miniature hand painted blue painting of a sailboat in a harbor with four small flower and leaf decorations along the outside edge. Around the sides of the bottom is a 4-color hand-painted floral design. Measuring only 2 1/2" by 2" by 1 1/2" tall, this small box still retains its original silver plate latch which closes tightly. There is some fine surface scratches to the top and a few small tiny flecks to the edge of the cover. There are no other problems or any restorations,and it is signed on the bottom RR. To make sure some eBayer adds this 18th century Faience Box to their collection, it has been listed without reserve.
