Description
From the sellerALL SALES ARE FINAL This Japanese tonkotsu, aka tobacco box, was woven with very thin strips of bamboo then lacquered to strengthen and waterproof. Several different intricate weave patterns are used for decorative purposes and the front is hand painted with a traditional Japanese sprig of flowers. This traditional Japanese cigarette box was made to be worn with the cord wrapped around a belt at the waist and held in place by the wood toggle called an ojime. This tobacco box comes from my own grandmother's estate. We have had it in the family since the 1950s.
