From the seller
This piece was found in Montana while traveling the country in the 1970s. I thought it was a piece of coral and was in my seashell collection until a friend recently thought it looked like a bone. After looking up fossilized items online, there were pictures that identified this as a crocodile scute. Well, who knew. The scute measures 1-1/2 inches long and 7/8 inch wide.
