Description
From the sellerOne handmade powderhorn. Early 19th century. About 1 foot in length. My family has had this powderhorn since the 1950's. Note the year 1824 punched into the end of the horn. Very small blacksmith nails used to secure wood stopper into the end of the horn. Notch carved into open end of horn gives leather shoelace grabbing point on end of horn. Staple like(handmade) piece secures leather strap into wood stopper in large opening at other end of powderhorn. One year short of being 2 centuries old. They don't make them like this any more. Weighs about 5 or 6 ounces. Thanks for looking. Stored in heated/smoke free environment. Last one.
