THIS IS A SUPERB EARLY ANTIQUE MUSEUM QUALITY NORWEGIAN ROSEMALED BOX OF GREAT BEAUTY. I BELIEVE THIS IS FROM THE SANDEFJORD AREA OF NORWAY AND DATES TO THE MID 1800S. IT HAS FABULOUS AND RARE EARLY ROSEMALING WITH A FLOWER AND LEAF MOTIF. THERE ARE THREE BORDERED SECTIONS TO THE PAINTING THAT EXTEND AROUND THE BOX. THESE ANTIQUE SCANDINAVIAN BOXES ARE BECOMING VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND. THIS IS AN EARLY AND RARE PAINTED BOX DATING TO CIRCA 1800-1880! The top of the box is 5.5 inches tall and 4.5 inches in diameter. Please look at the photos for the condition.
