This is an accessory for the Nikonos series of underwater 35mm film cameras. These cameras were legendary for their durability and were a collaboration between Nikon and Jacques Cousteau's "Calypso" camera design. The Nikonos cameras (like the III, IV-A, or V) have relatively small, hard metal or plastic knobs for adjusting aperture and focus.
