Cat's Paw heels were designed to be versatile and were manufactured to span a range of sizes. A size 10 work boot will have a much wider, thicker heel base than a size 10 dress loafer. [1 ,2 ,3 ]. The cobbler would take these oversized or universal blocks, nail them to the shoe, and grind them down on a sanding wheel to perfectly match the contour of the leather.
