National Geographic Magazine, December 1949 , Coca-Cola advertisement back cover

The National Geographic Magazine, Volume XCVI, Number Six, December 1949. The magazine as seen from the cover index includes: War-torn Greece Looks Ahead, Exploring Stone Age Arnhem Land, Adobe New Mexico, Sheep Airlift in New Guinea, The Society’s New Map of Classical Lands. Wonderful advertising includes a full color back cover Coca-Cola ad celebrating Christmas; as well as ads inside the magazine for railroad lines, cruise lines; Hamilton Watches, IBM and much more. The magazine itself is in great condition except for two letters written in pencil along the top edge of the front cover and slight damage to the binding wrap. The “Map of Classical Lands of the Mediterranean”, an insert piece, is missing.
