Description

From the seller
This Testimonial was issued to Private Noel Byron Phillips. They were issued in 1868 to soldiers from Maine that served in the Civil War by Joshua Chamberlain. The document has Chamberlain’s signature but like all of them issued it is a printed copy. This one is the first that I have seen by a soldier that was killed in the war. The documents dimensions are 17 3/4” W X 21 1/2” L. I have included a picture of private Phillips war record where he was in the Maine 4th Light Artillery and was killed on 8/9/1862 at Cedar Mountain, Va. Thank you for looking!
