Description
From the sellerThese vintage cast iron fire mark signs were issued to homeowners and businesses by American insurance companies beginning in the 1750s. Metal fire marks were posted on the protected property to signify coverage against fire damage, as a deterrent to arson, and as a signal to volunteer firefighters. The green tree No. 105 fire mark was issued by Mutual Assurance in Wilton. The INA Eagle fire mark shows the founding date of the Insurance Company of North America - these early fire marks were produced around 1796-1800. These cast iron signs have a classic and timeless look, making them a valuable addition to any collection of vintage signs or memorabilia.
