From the sellerThe basket is hand painted in many thin layers using black lacquer derived from the Toxicodendron Vernicifuluum tree. The black lacquer provides a strong and protective barrier over the softer zhangmu wood used to construct the basket making this basket very lightweight and easy to carry when filled with food or gifts for the bride and groom.
