This seashell is an Imperial Volute (Cymbiola imperialis), a species native to the Philippines that is highly prized by collectors for its distinctive "crowned" spikes and intricate, zigzag brown patterns. This was purchased from an estate sale in the early 2000's. The original owner was an avid collector that traveled the world in 60's/70's. There are many shells in cases that show provenance and date. More to come.
