Large Early 19th c Japanese Imari Covered Bowl

A large and impressive 19th c Japanese Imari covered bowl. It is beautifully decorated in the traditional Imari colors of under glaze blue, rust/red, green, brown, black and gold. The cover contains three scenic panels of cranes by a body of water. In the center of the cover is a scene of figure with a scroll riding on a large crane. The bowl section contains bats and decorative elements in blue. The bowl measures 8 1/2" in diameter and is 5 1/2" in height with the cover on. There is an old spider crack in the base of the bowl and a shallow chip to the cover rim (see photos) but the piece displays beautifully.
