These folk art pins were hand-carved and hand-painted by various makers. The three are unsigned, but the box has "Wooden birds / Gift from Ed / Handpainted 1950's" written on the lid. "After the war, [many inmates] were unable to find work.So they turned to the skill they had learned in camp, and made and sold bird pins for the next 40 years.
