Early set of 4 Awaji glazed hand-thrown stoneware nesting pots (aka Minpei ware). All 4 have original tops - two have small chips to edge (pictured); the largest pot (6 inches) is extra rare. Awaji pottery was made during a one hundred year period from approx. 1830-1939 and well known for it robust and brilliant lead-based glazes in solid and drip designs. The impressed "Made In Japan" stamp on each piece means they were produced between 1922 and the kilns closing in 1939; and never made again. These have been in my family's estate for decades. Any further comments/offers welcome. A historic treasure of Awaji pottery!
