This is an absolutely stunning museum quality antique Victorian - Art Deco Shell Cameo Brooch in 18 Karat Gold with an extraordinary hand carved image of a Veiled Dancing Woman or Goddess in the style of the legendary Isadora Duncan. Isadora Duncan's image was used throughout popular culture during the Art Deco period as a symbol of freedom and artistry and celebration of dance and the female form. The dancing woman with her diaphanous veiled dress and wonderful flowing pose is an extremely rare and wonderful image in cameo art. The large cameo is set in 18 Karat Yellow Gold. The shell has fabulous three dimensionality to it which adds to the movement of the dancer. The wonderful dance poses of her hands and feet with her flowing hair and profile glance create an exquisite cameo. The piece can be easily converted to a pendant if desired.
