From the sellerThe Herter’s #17 Shell Holder is a precision-crafted accessory designed specifically for the 8mm Lebel rifle case. Made in the United States. This shell holder has been modified. At some point in time someone has cut out the upper lip of the groove. About 1/2 to 2/3's have been removed of the curved portion of the main slot where a shell case would sit. Possibly done to except brass that is being formed to fit and 8mm Lebel. Unknown exactly why.
