The Guns of Port Hudson. By David C. Edmonds. Volume One: The River Campaign, February-May 1863. Hardcover, dj, has wrinkles and small tears at edges, pub. 1983, stated as first edition, 271 pages. Book is in very good condition, gift inscription on front endpapers. The siege of Port Hudson lasted for over a month and included the naval vessels of Admiral Farragut attempt to bypass the batteries to the Red River. This was to be followed by infantry assaults on the fortifications. Lots of photos and maps. Very readable account of the battles. There was a second volume in the series but I do not have it. Very scarce Civil War history book. Shipping weight over 1 pound.
