Georgian Garnet Rose Cut Diamond Fly Locket Pendant Necklace Antique Gold 1800

This is a very rare museum quality antique Georgian to Victorian Garnet and Rose Cut Diamond Fly Insect Pendant Locket with a small Locket opening in which to place a treasured memento, a mourning item, or possibly poison! The extraordinary Garnet Fly Pendant is 10-14 Karat Gold. The pendant is a very rare early jewel dating to circa 1780-1830. The pendant has four extraordinary natural garnet cabochen gems of superb quality. The garnets are large natural garnet cabochons with magnificent Bohemian Red color and fabulous radiance. They are large garnets of approximately 1/2 inches in length. The garnets are each set in cut down collets as was the custom of the period. The pendant is adorned with a wonderful fly insect resting atop the garnets. The fly is set with three sparkling white antique Rose Cut Diamonds.
