From the sellerVon Schmidt grew up in Westport, CT and planned to be an artist like his father……. until he heard Lead Belly on the radio and his father bought him his first Gibson guitar. His teen years were spent playing Lead Belly songs and the music of Woody Guthrie, Burl Ives, Josh White, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Richard Dyer-Bennet, and John Jacob Niles.
