Description
From the sellerSilver three cent coins had been issued since 1851, and five cent coins minted in copper-nickel would not be issued until 1866. Many of the three cents nickel were used to redeem the Fractional Currency (paper money of 3 cents to 75 cents in denomination) that was issued during the Civil War.
