Description

From the seller
A very rare antique Egyptian Revival Necklace in Silver with magnificent enamel work to create an Art Nouveau to Art Deco masterpiece! The articulated necklace has images of Pharoah, Goddess, Lotus Flower, Hieroglyphics, and Goddess with a Bird Headdress. It dates to the Art Deco to Belle Epoque period, circa 1870-1920. During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as "archaeological revival jewelry," or "Egyptian revival jewelry." The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s onward, and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics. The necklace is 14.5 inches long. It could be easily extended at the back if desired. The necklace is hallmarked 900 for Silver on several of the pendants.
