The hinge is brass and functions. It snaps loudly when closed and it is a little back from the front edge. The piece may have been a souvenir. The enamel has chipping areas and the brass has darkened with use and time. The front bottom area has " CANADA " in brass. The back has what looks like Victorian Ornamental Engraving of two or three initials. The base of the case has a rigid area for striking matches. We have not tried to clean or polish the piece. it is 63mm tall and 39mm wide. It is 10mm thick and all measurements are of the outside dimensions. Please study photos as they are part of the item description and it is not perfect. We do not set the shipping rates.
