A charming painting of a French Town, featuring the Cathedral of St. Cecile, Alki. It is in a lovely gold frame, it measures 15.5” x 12.5” painted in oil on masonite, done in the 1990’s by Earl Mayan. Earl Mayan (1916-2009) is well known for his Saturday Evening Post covers during the 1950’s and 60’s. He also illustrated many books, including the famous paperback book cover for “Shane” named by Consumer Reports as the most popular cover of all time. He illustrated many Readers Digest books, and Alfred Hitchcock Stories. He taught painting at New York City’s famous Art Students League for over 30 years.
