From the sellerLee relocated to the United States with his wife in 1965. He then earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in 1974 and his Ph.D. in 1975, both in biochemistry from New York University. His doctoral dissertation, completed under his sister, Professor Sylvia Lee-Huang, was titled, "A New Function ofEscherichia coli Elongation Factor G in Chain Initiation.".
