From the sellerProduced starting 1861. The stamp features a portrait of Jefferson Davis, who served as the President of the Confederacy. It was produced using lithography by the firm Hoyer & Ludwig in Richmond, Virginia. The stamp was designed to pay the general letter rate until that cost increased to ten cents in July 1862.
