William Wendel Smith suffered burns but survived. B, 104th Ohio Infantry in August 1862. On May 31, 1864, he was shot in the arm during the Battle of Dallas (Georgia). On Nov. 30, 1864, he was captured during the Battle of Franklin (Tennessee).
