Civil War Era Hittel Detroit Coin Silver Box 164g Henry Abbott Gordon Rare OOAK Fresh New Orleans estate find 3 7/16” long 2 9/16” deep 13/16” tall I am not a civil war expert, but based on Samuel Hittel, the maker of this box it indicates that his shop was active from 1855 to 1869 A cursory Google search of the three gentlemen involved all seem to be confederate civil war officers . This is an extremely unique piece of history Note there is some red staining on one side in a little bit of the bottom of the box. I have no idea what it is. I haven’t done anything to this except take pictures since I got it.
