Description
From the sellerThis teapot is part of what is commonly known as Japanese Dragonware or Moriage pottery, produced primarily in the mid-20th century. These decorative tea sets were manufactured in Japan during the post-WWII occupation period (1945-1952) and were popular export items targeted at American servicemen to bring home as souvenirs. Dragonware pieces are characterized by their distinctive raised dragon designs (moriage technique), reddish-brown clay body, and hand-painted decorations featuring traditional Japanese figures. These sets are highly sought after by collectors of Asian ceramics and mid-century decorative arts, particularly those interested in Occupied Japan memorabilia and post-war Japanese export goods.
