From the sellerCanada (New France) 3 Livres Playing Card Money Banknote 1751 XF This is a VERY SCARCE HIGHER GRADE 18th Century Playing Card Currency Banknote from Canada (New France). This Canadian Bank Note was issued on a Three of Spades Playing Card, for 3 Livres in 1751 (dated on the reverse). Playing-card money was a type of paper money used periodically in New France (Canada) from 1685 to the British Conquest in 1763. Playing cards issued by the king - later replaced with white cards cut to various shapes - held values equivalent to French livres. The administration of New France counted on the arrival of cash from France in order to pay civil servants, suppliers, soldiers and clerks. If the ship failed to arrive timely or at all. It created a Currency Crisis. at all.
