Description
From the sellerAmazing and interesting specimen as pictured. Composed of chert. Discovered in stream gravels. Weighs 2.9 ounces. From the Cambrian period, Conasauga Formation and found near Rome, Georgia. Discussed in a 2007 Palaios research article by Schwimmer and Montante. They believed it to be a form of primitive sponge. Studies that have been done as far back as the 19th century have suggested many reasons for the occurrence of "Brooksella". Jellyfish casts, trace fossil burrowing, sponge and pseudo fossil.
