J6852 was the first prototype of the Avro 549 Aldershot, originally flown in 1921 with a Rolls-Royce Condor engine. In late 1922 it was fitted with the monstrous Napier Cub - the first British aero engine to reach 1,000 hp - becoming the sole Aldershot II.
