Two young Avro workers ride inside the open cockpits of the uncovered fuselage as it rolls on a wheeled dolly behind a loaded horse-drawn dray stacked with wooden crates stencilled FRAGILE. Just weeks after this photograph was taken, in September 1913, A.V. Roe & Co flew the prototype of its legendary Avro 504, developed directly from this family of designs.
