Austria Copper Medal After 1695 Thaler, Leopold (the Hogmouth), AU

Very nice copper medal in the style of a 1695 thaler (KM 1275.4) of Leopold I (the Hogmouth) in high grade (looks AU). 44 mm diameter. Bold portrait of Leopold, the Holy Roman Emperor nicknamed "the Hogmouth" due to his extreme mandibular prognathism, a severe protruding lower jaw and lip inherited from intense Habsburg family inbreeding. He ruled from 1657 to 1705, reigning during major wars against the Ottoman Turks and France, and is noted for his devout Catholicism and patronage of arts. Neatly holed at the top, presumably for suspension. Pleasing even reddish brown patina. Interesting piece of numismatic history to complement a collection of Austrian thalers.
